The representative groups of the Faculty of Medicine are involved at all levels in the development and implementation of the quality assurance and improvement system. The QAI, structure involves students, mid-level faculty, lecturers, and administrative staff, among others, through the Q Core Group and the Q Coaches. The Inselspital and the UPD have their own QAI systems. There are specific committees and subcommittees for teaching and research. The QAI organizational structure and the faculty structure are interlinked (some representatives of the Q Core Group are members of committees and subcommittees). This closes the loop.
The Q Core Group reports regularly to the Faculty Council. The QAI system of the Faculty of Medicine is reviewed as part of the institutional accreditation of the University of Bern.
The Quality Officer chairs the Q Core Group and is the link between the Faculty and the Vice-Rectorate Quality and Sustainable Development. The Q Core Group is responsible for the coordination, planning, and control of QAI at the faculty level. For the coordination and implementation of QAI at the institute or clinic level, they each appoint a Q Coach for their unit.
