Quality assurance and quality development at the Faculty of Medicine are based on the overarching regulations of the University of Bern (Vice-Rectorate Quality and Sustainable Development), the Law on Medical Professions (Medizinalberufegesetz MedBG), and the accreditation ordinance according to the Higher Education Act.
As part of the University, the Faculty of Medicine is committed to quality, efficiency, and sustainability in the performance of its tasks and services. It strives for the highest quality in teaching, research, and continuing education, in the fostering of young academics, and in its services. With the help of a system of quality assurance and improvement (QAI), the Faculty of Medicine reflects on these efforts and works to improve and develop them. It promotes the development of a culture of quality among its members.
The responsibility for the quality of the University's tasks lies with the Faculty. The Faculty's quality assurance system, therefore, encompasses the University's core tasks, in particular teaching and research, continuing education, fostering of young academics, and equal opportunities, as well as the associated support services. The task of quality assurance in the individual institutions' service area is the institutions' responsibility.
