The fields of action are implemented by means of measures.
The measures listed here were defined on the basis of the objectives and fields of action of the Faculty of Medicine's Strategy 2030 and the field of action «Digital Medicine» in coordination with the University of Bern's Digitalization Strategy 2030.
They represent the current status but will be adapted and redefined based on the latest developments.
- Establishment of a robust governance structure. A code of conduct is to be defined under the specified governance.
- For possible scenarios for the participation of the University of Bern/Insel Gruppe AG in the SPHN program and the establishment of a Biomed-IT-Node, an analysis is to be prepared by the project management «Digital Medicine».
- Based on the report «Biomed-IT-Nodes», the implementation of one of the options (Biomed-IT-Node, Switch, Solution BE) is to be decided by the program committee «Digital Medicine» (e.g. as «Research Hub Bern»).
- The implementation of the «data interoperability» between the Insel Gruppe AG and the University of Bern (Faculty of Medicine) is carried out by the project management «Digital Medicine».
- A cross-network collaboration is to be established. Access management: Obstacle-free access for employees of the University of Bern and Insel Gruppe AG to the business services relevant to cross-network collaboration is to be established.
- The role of the CAIM (Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine) is to be defined within the framework of the coordination of academic activities by the faculty executive board in coordination with the program committee «Digital Medicine».
- The implementation of ICT projects in the research context is to follow a professional approach. This is in the clinics as well as in the structures of the University of Bern. They should be realized by external companies and experts and separated from the academic approach.
- Structural reports and professorships are to be analyzed: Systematic elaboration of ICT needs (requirements engineering) and comparison to the actual situation (e.g. HPC). Systematic elaboration of the necessary methodological support (e.g. data mining, AI), examination of the data required for research, their procurement and compliance with legislative requirements, in the interaction between the University of Bern and the Inselspital (e.g. respect for data protection, human research law, etc.), embedding in the national and international digital research context (e.g. SPHN). Examination of interactions, synergies, and division of labor with other «digital professorships».
