The Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine (SCRM) Platform is an inter-faculty and inter-institutional research cluster of the University of Bern and the Inselspital. It comprises 35 member groups from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science, and the Vetsuisse Faculty.

Profile

  • The SCRM platform’s mission is to foster innovation and to efficiently and rapidly transfer basic findings on cell therapy into clinical applications. It connects and supports Bernese scientists with activities in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
  • The platform consistently supports its members with educational and research activities and serves as an interface between the University of Bern and Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, and between pre-clinical research and clinical studies and applications.
  • The SCRM members have research foci on therapeutic target fields such as Brain, Bone / Spine / Tendon / Ligament, Cranio-Maxillofacial, Heart, Hematopoietic System, Liver, Lung, Retina, Shoulder and Rotator Cuff, Skin / Hair Follicle, or Urology.
  • Lecture series in Basics Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine, Organoids, Stem Cell niche, IPS, ESC, Adult SC in different tissues, offered for MSc and PhD students.
  • Teaching: A new PhD Specialization in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine is jointly offered with the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences (GCB).
